While you wait
Quick safety steps before we arrive
A few minutes of the right action can prevent serious damage — or a serious safety issue.
Smell gas?
Leave the house immediately. Don't switch lights on or off. Call 911 from outside, then call us — we'll have a TSSA-licensed gas fitter on the way.
CO alarm sounding?
Get everyone (people and pets) outside, open windows on the way out, and call 911. Don't re-enter until first responders clear the home.
No heat below freezing?
Run kitchen and bathroom taps at a trickle to keep pipes from freezing. Gather in one room with blankets and close interior doors to retain heat.
Water leaking from your HVAC?
If safe, shut the unit off at the breaker. Place a bucket or towels under the leak and clear the area to prevent floor damage.
AC out during a heat warning?
Close blinds, run ceiling fans, hydrate, and check on elderly neighbours. Toronto Public Health publishes cooling-centre locations during heat advisories.

FAQ
Emergency HVAC in Toronto — common questions
How quickly can you respond to an emergency HVAC call in Toronto?
For true emergencies — no heat in winter, no cooling during a heat wave, gas smell, water leak from your HVAC system — we dispatch the closest available technician immediately. Most downtown Toronto calls are reached within about an hour, North York / Scarborough / Etobicoke within ~2 hours, and the wider GTA within ~3 hours.
Do you charge extra for after-hours emergency HVAC service?
Yes — there's a modest after-hours dispatch premium for evenings, weekends and holidays. We always quote it on the phone before we roll a truck so there are no surprises, and it's much less than the cost of a frozen pipe or a hotel for the night.
What counts as an HVAC emergency?
Anything that risks safety, property damage or extended exposure to extreme temperatures. The big ones: gas smell, carbon monoxide alarm, no heat below 10°C outdoor temps, no cooling during a heat advisory, refrigerant leaks, water leaking from a furnace or AC, and electrical smells from any HVAC equipment.
What should I do while I wait for the technician?
If you smell gas: leave the house immediately, call 911 from outside, then call us. If your CO alarm sounds: open windows, get everyone out, call 911. For no heat in deep cold, run kitchen taps at a trickle to prevent pipe freezing and gather in one room with extra layers. For water leaks, shut the unit off at the breaker if safe to do so.
Can you handle gas line and electrical emergencies too?
Our technicians are TSSA-licensed gas fitters and ESA-licensed for electrical, so we can safely handle the HVAC-related parts of a gas or electrical emergency (faulty gas valve, scorched wiring on a furnace, breaker tripping on AC). For utility-side issues like a gas leak in the meter or service line, you should call Enbridge or 911 first.
Which Toronto and GTA areas do you cover for emergency HVAC?
All of Toronto — downtown, North York, Scarborough, Etobicoke, East York and the suburbs — and across the GTA including Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Mississauga, Brampton, Oakville and Burlington. Our 24/7 dispatch routes the closest available technician to keep response times short.
